Raghu Rai photo expo

23 11 2006

There’s a Raghu Rai photo expo on at Tasveer gallery(Bangalore) that got extended till the 26th. Tasveer’s off British Library on Kasturba Cross Road.

Raghu Rai is, according to grapevine, India’s ace photographer, who is part of Magnum photos – apparently* the most prestigious snapper clique. He is a PadmaShree awardee. Magnum photos bio on Rai is here.

The exhibition hosts pictures mostly from the 80′s, 90′s and some from the 00′s. None from Rai’s Bhopal Gas Tragedy or Kumbh Mela coverage, but plenty from other places – tons of nudes, actually – most, which this author found rather tasteless.

Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTSi 2006. Old v/s New.

Power delivery is very linear, although this author felt that Power wasnt coming with the hurry that one is used to on the older Pulsar – maybe it was just need for running-in on the test bike.

“Little vice, even less spice.

That should be the tag-line for the movie. Colin Farell and Jamie Foxx are the lead stars. and Gong li is the female lead. The story is apparently based on a 1980′s TV series, of the same name. With farell and foxx playing two cops who go undercover.

The plot is very thin, and intended to be racy, which it isnt. Cops get killed. Undercover cops deployed. Cop gets involved with Gangsta’s chick, gets double-crossed. Doesnt get killed in shoot-out.

Ok, typical 1980s Hindi movie, right? Well, almost. Except the chick’s let go.
